Tomorrow is the final day!

There is light on the horizon, as tomorrow is my last day living below the line. As this is going to drag so much, my plan is to stay as busy as possible to keep my mind off food. Every minute of every day I keep debating what my first proper meal will be, a part of me wants to keep it small (try and lose a few more pounds), then the other (and louder) half wants to start the day with a full english breakfast, a caramelised red onion and goats cheese pannini for lunch, followed by a classic chesters for tea.

But maybe that's just being greedy.

All in all, I'm very happy not only for achieving this, but raising money for Oxfam and kick starting Oxjam.

Lost my love of food

I'm slowly but surely losing the will to live. I apologize for this blog turning into my moaning page, but I blame the lack of good food. For those who do know me, know I love food a lot, if something looks good I'll eat it whether I'm hungry or not. Now I find it a chore to make food and eat it, I find myself putting off eating because I just don't want to eat boring beige food everyday!

Not only is my hunger changing, but many other things, here's a list :) ;

  • Headaches
  • Constantly tired
  • Achy body
  • Mood swings (mostly bad) and irritability
  • Lack of motivation
  • Bad skin
  • Loss of weight (this one is my favorite)
  • And a huge amount of hatred for anyone eating nice food
But looking on the brighter side of things, Wednesday is my last day; deciding what food I'm going to indulge in on Thursday takes most of my time.
AND we can't forget what this is all for! Helping to stop poverty in the world, I've lived below the line for 6 days now and I can't stand it!

Living the life of luxery

Over half way there and the second shop complete. After not eating as much food as I'd planned, this gave me the option of having slightly better food, this time round. Bread and spaghetti where the obvious thing to buy (stodgy cheapness). I then bought some jam for 29p to add to my porridge in the morning; hopefully it will become less boring.
Rice, curry sauce and chicken goujons were my little luxury  something to add a little flavour to my meals. And finally I bought a tin of peach slices for a sweet treat.

The best part of this shop, I have 53p left over to buy an energy drink!

Time goes by so slowly

Firstly, I apologize for the lack of posts recently, I've been a busy bee with work.

I have been keeping on this track, and down to my busy schedule I even have food left over; which means I may be able to splash out on some orange juice on the next shop.

So I'm nearly half way through this, and I no longer feel hungry during the day (which makes this much easier). Unfortunately, my headache is still stirring and I'm constantly tired, which affects my thought process and the days seem to get longer and longer. This all may be because of the wonderful weather and my constant working. But I feel the lack of vitamins and caffeine just magnifies everything.

The world is looking slightly brighter

The battles of a horrible headache have finally ended, ibuprofen is now my new best friend!

I decided to be a bit more creative with my food today, unfortunately I didn't take a picture of my noodle sandwich; but it was a change from plain noodles (although without butter or mayo it lacked flavor and moisture).

However, for tea I dipped into my frozen sausages and had them with beans and toast... very satisfying. Although I do miss having freshly ground pepper on everything (slight addiction?).

In a nutshell, my mood has become increasingly better, not being a moody little ass to everyone! And surprisingly I'm not really that hungry anymore! But am dying for a fruity cider to drink in this sun :(

A restless night

So around 8pm last night, I became extremely agitated; everything was making me hungry. The noodles hadn't filled me up and my stomach was starting to rumble ferociously, and I had (and still have) the worst headache known to man... my mum reckons it's the lack of caffeine. And to top it all off, my plan to distract myself with sims (don't judge) was ruined because my idiot brother left it at someones house.

I wasn't a very happy bunny.

I've just had my 'not appealing in the slightest' porridge for breakfast, I do feel quite full which is a bonus. However, my headache is still taking over my life, hopefully that will leave soon as well!

Here's a picture of my beautiful breakfast;

Last meal of the day; going to be a hard journey

So I've had my last meal of day 1, a very pathetic portion of cheap noodles (not even super noodles)! As far as meals go, it was really depressing; and a clear representation of the next 9 days.

I've spent all day complaining to everyone about how hungry I am, so this is a public apology to all those who spend time with me in the next couple of weeks, I will annoy you all with my rants. For this, I am truly sorry!

My plan is to drink lots of water, hopefully this will fill the spaces!

First meal; spaghetti on toast!

Luckily for myself, tins of spaghetti were 15p a tin, and I like spaghetti on toast, so this is fine. However, the lack of butter or pepper made the dish seem a little disappointing.

Whether I still enjoy spaghetti on toast after all this, is a bridge I'll have to cross when I get to it!

Absolutely amazed I got enough food for 5 days (with 19p change);

A loaf of bread
3 tins of spaghetti
2 tins of beans
A packet of porridge (8 sachets)
4 packets of noodles
Frozen sausages (although the content of meat is questionable)

We've raised £70 so far! Thankyou all so much!

First shop for the first 5 days, Aldi is my saviour

Day 1: Caffeine is the bane of my life

Having a monster or redbull to start the day is just the norm, yes it's not particularly great for the health but when you have a hectic sleeping pattern... needs must.

This may be the biggest challenge I face for the next 10 days, If I'm lucky there may be some money left over in the pot to buy some extremely cheap coffee!

I'm off to the shops now to make this £5 stretch! In a few hours, an update with pictures will be added!

Tomorrow is the day!

It's finally dawned on me that as of tomorrow I won't have the freedom to eat or drink what I want. My biggest concerns are no caffeine, alcohol or mayonnaise!

Tomorrow I will be doing my first shop in the morning, buying 5 days worth of food, to split the meals up easier. Every day I will be letting you all into my world of (what I imagine to be) plain starchy foods of extremely low quality.

So far we've raised £50 and would like you all to keep on giving, this is all for Oxfam; an amazing cause (but I don't need to tell you that).

Today my plan is to eat as little as possible, so tomorrow won't be such a task. But let's face it, when we're all faced with the possibility that we may not get fed as much the next day, we will eat as much as our stomachs can hold!

First Donations

Wonderful people!

After starting the Virgin Money Giving Page, we've raised £50 so far through everyone's amazing donations! It does keep reminding me how important this is, and worryingly how quickly it's coming round. Logical planning needs to be made in order to not starve myself, so Aldi will be my food shop! I'm planning on buying food in 2 sections of 5 days, this will hopefully allow for easier controlling. From reading similar blogs, starvation isn't the big worry; more the boring same food over and over again.

On Sunday I will be doing this wonderful food shop and taking pictures to prove I've kept to the budget!

Please keep donating, every penny counts! Virgin Money Giving

First blog of long journey ahead!

Hey!

As some of you may be aware, my name is Georgia Dickinson and I'm the Oxjam Takeover Manager for Lancaster! This daily blog will show the ups, downs and crazy times of this whole process.

The first fundraiser I'm doing is living below the line for 10 days! What's that I hear you say (metaphorically)? I shall tell you;

Living below the line refers to the line of extreme poverty, suffered by 1.4 billion people who live off less than £1 a day. To try and understand slightly what this HUGE percentage of the world goes through, I will be doing this for 10 days. A small snippet of what is a terrible situation!

Throughout this process I will be talking and posting pictures of the experience, so everyone can see the effects.
